

The team in Ecuador has used results of the ELEVATE project, among others, to advocate for the improvement of cervical cancer prevention including the introduction of HPV DNA testing as national screening policy and gender neutral HPV vaccination, as well as for more attention for the follow-up of women with cervical lesions. On October 18, 2024, Dr. Bernardo Vega Crespo participated as an assembly member for a day in the National Assembly of Ecuador to contribute to drafting the cervical cancer prevention law. In October 2024, a law was passed to regulate cervical cancer prevention in the country.
